 $299 initial subscription to get deliveries . We have posted our victories and our let downs above as they came over the past year. We did our best to stick to the plan of avoiding a grocery store and sticking to just items ordered through Amazon Fresh for our family of 4. 

#1 Cost- Initially for the first 6 months there was a tip charged per order which made our per order delivery $6.00. the Service was used 76 times during the course of the year, but as the year went on the minimum order was raised from $35.00 to $50.00. In addition there was a lack of customer specials and discounted products that normally can be found by walking down the aisles of your local grocery store

#2 Waste- If you needed a tomato or an onion or whatever for one recipe – in order to get a good enough deal you would need to order a bag of them and most of the time the food would go to waste as we were unable to use all of it in a timely manner.

#3 Poor quality and inconsistency The produce that was delivered 60% of the time was unusable. We would have to throw quite a bit of it out.

Bags piled up – since the post office has taken over the deliveries they very seldom pick up the bags anymore.

Lascari subs and pasta salad $8 each not too shabby the sandwiches were fantastic

Finally they got it right ! putting the bread on the top and putting cardboard over the rest of the stuff

Santa Monica Seafoods Rockfish looked and tasted pretty darn good – thank god for Santa Monica Seafoods

nice wrap job on those sandwiches thought we were going to be stuck with some soggy sandwiches

Romas …I have to say these things looked pretty sad you would think that I would learn my lesson but I promised I would avoid the store so I force myself to order this even though I know I will have to throw out certain things

Pretty messed up looking corn I would have never picked this up at the store It seemed to be really old to me

Garlic on the outs this garlic that they sent to me had barely any usable parts to it

Sweets very tasty cant complain with this order everything came in pretty nice

This potato salad was packaged so poorly, there was mayonnais e running down the sides it looked so unappetizing

This chicken was very good and very moist… we will be ordering this one again alot

We were able to make excellent breakfast sausage with the pork which really was beautiful

I ordered 2 garlic only one came.. I was planning on making sausage with the pork butt… now what do I have to do, go to the store for one bulb of garlic? COME ON AMAZON GET IT TOGETHER!

ordered 3 pounds 3.2 pounds were delivered. (also of note is the fact that the pork butt is now delivered from Marcondas meats as opposed to the last purveyor with the fatty meats- I found out what the .2 pounds extra were.. this was sold as pork butt but did not mention that it was bone in ..

100% grass fed Wagyu beef from New Zealand…. I ordered 2 pounds they gave me 3 pounds for the price of 2 – really great meat I will post photos once I open… this had to get thrown in the freezer as it was 100 degrees and there was no way I was going to cook a pot roast in that heat

The Strawberries were old and will have to be eaten within the next day… not terrible, but the Amazon Fresh produce quality is killing me

We live in San Diego and we now have access to sausage from a great company in Los Angeles!

This 3 pound pork butt consisted of about 1 pound of fat I would have probably passed over these but I can still make a nice pulled pork in my pressure cooker with it so not a total letdown

The Carrots that were delivered were very old and I would have never purchased these if I had seen them in the store 5 bucks down the drain

We are a family of 4 children with two children living at home. We have an 8 year old son and a 14 month old daughter.  We have 1 dog and 1 cat.  We have a background in restaurants and foodservice.

This is  how it works: If you place an order by 10 in the morning., groceries will arrive “by dinner,” if  orders are placed later in the day they will arrive as early as the following morning.

We are very busy as our son is in sports and our daughter is hard to get in and out of the car, so Amazon Fresh seems like it would be the perfect option for us! We were given a 30 day trial to Amazon Fresh, so we looked online everywhere to try to find any information or have real peoples experiences to help us figure it out. We weren’t able to find anything online and found out that there are only 2 cities that Amazon Fresh was servicing: Los Angeles and San Diego.  We are really impressed with the quality of service we receive from Amazon Fresh and we want to help other people if they’re on the fence about purchasing this product. The subscription for $299.00 seemed like a lot for us at first but as we dug deeper and deeper, soon we found out it was a fantastic deal! Actually, it was too good to be true.

Some of the clear stand out amenities that come with the amazon fresh services are:

1. Any order over $35.00 is delivered for free. (update 05/30/15) minimum order has been raised to $50

2. Doorstep delivery. This is perfect for us…the food is at our door ready to go.

3. Early morning delivery. They will deliver between 12 pm and 7 am, which is perfect for the morning as we wake up and the food is there and ready for breakfast.

4. Same day delivery. Some of the orders you can make in the morning and they will have it there by the time you get off work.

5. Getting gourmet foods from Los Angeles businesses specializing in certain things. We will get into this more later; we live in San Diego.

6. Subscription to Amazon Prime. This service alone costs $100.00 a year and it includes: Amazon music, Amazon Streaming, Amazon Pantry and Amazon Prime.
